There are so many different paths you can take in massage therapy and I would get lost in thinking that I had to be the best, learn a bunch of modalities and have 20 years of experience under my belt. There’s obviously value in that, but I felt myself getting lost in an empty ambition. My practice is not holistic because of the school I went to or because I’ve read about chakras or crystals. It’s holistic because what I am is whole. The work I do is not just during the session but an everyday devotion and reverence for all that is. This keeps me in a state of awe and humility for the healing power of God’s divine love that always flows freely and abundantly if we are open to receiving it.

At the end of my last year of college, I applied to a massage school called Healing Hands School of Holistic Health and began my year long program that fall. I wasn’t sure what direction I wanted to take to continue to develop my skills, I just knew there was something for me in this field. I resisted any ‘healer’ label (even though all my interests seemed to point to that direction) because I think healing is a personal journey of accountability and self-compassion which cannot be outsourced to another person. We can all be medicine for each other in one way or another and in ways we would not expect. I only hope to be a helpful hand for anyone who needs support, positivity and love.

We need more peace, joy and love to permeate the body. Everyone should feel worthy, capable, expressive, grounded, peaceful, loved and joyful. It doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t experience any negative emotion, just that we should be able to navigate our internal worlds in a way that uplifts us and elevates us towards a closer experience o

It doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t experience any negative emotion, just that we should be able to navigate our internal worlds in a way that uplifts us and elevates us towards a closer experience of the All. There are many excellent body workers who do wonders with their knowledge of anatomy and technical skill and I admire them very much and try to learn from them, but my focus is more on the restoration of the human form as a living, breathing temple. A house of worship. A dwelling place for divine love. My massage is my prayer for the liberation of all living beings.
